VANS AND THE VAN GOGH MUSEUM CREATE AN ART COLLECTION

    21 August 2018

VANS AND THE VAN GOGH MUSEUM CREATE AN ART COLLECTION

    By Franco Lorenzon

Vans and the Van Gogh Museum proudly announce the collaboration that has resulted in an artistically crafted collection of Van Gogh masterpieces recreated on the iconic Classic and various Vans clothing pieces. The collection will be available from August 3rd. The Van Gogh Museum will earmark part of the profits from this project for the preservation of Vincent Van Gogh's heritage and art collection, ensuring its accessibility to future generations.

The collection shows the evolution of Van Gogh's style through his self-portrait where the artist captures himself using pure, bright colours and a new technique that combines complementary colours to create depth and intensity. We find Van Gogh's self-portrait on the Authentic and matching Van Coch Oversized Tee.

The final group of creations includes an ode to the artist's drawing entitled "Old vineyard with peasant", finely printed on the OldSkool, and a special version of the Classic Slip-On on which parts of the letters written by Vincent to his brother Theo are depicted. The Vans designers reported on the Classic Slip-On excerpts and illustrations of some of the 700 letters the artist had sent to Theo. OldSkool and Classic Slip-On models will be available at selected retail and multi-brand locations.

The collection will be available on the Van Gogh Museum's website, at selected retail and multi-brand locations, as well as on the museum's e-commerce site and in the Van Gogh Museum's Amsterdam store from August 3rd.

A special occasion to wear the art and life of one of the painters who has left his mark in the history of world painting.
