    by Katja Scholka

The traditionally Austrian House of crystals Swarovski, founded by Daniel Swarovski in 1895 teamed up with the most exclusive emporium Harrods in London, which was founded in 1834 by Charles Henry Harrod. The `A Crystal Christmas inspired by Swarovski at Harrods for the 2011 holiday season`, is an exclusive partnership which shows a world of enchantment to charm young and old alike throughout the store.

The spectacular window display portraying an enchanted crystal forest sparkling with millions of SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS of all shapes and sizes is only the beginning of this journey of wonder.  This unique winter wonderland with a backdrop of delicate crystal tipped branches is the ultimate Christmas experience from the World of Swarovski. The fantasy backdrop will be home to many of the exclusive and limited edition A Crystal Christmas inspired by Swarovski products which will be showcased in an imaginative and inspiring setting.

“We are delighted to be able to celebrate the Swarovski and Harrods A Crystal Christmas collaboration, a culmination of great creativity and vision that has resulted in an enchanting backdrop for the world famous Harrods windows this holiday season.  It’s a sparkling showcase for some of the most exquisite pieces, and for the first time ever, includes a Swarovski pop up store with exclusive Swarovski gifts for all the family, including the Atelier Swarovski collection by Rodrigo Otazu.” Nadja Swarovski, Member of the Executive Board, Swarovski Crystal Business.

Highlights include  a showstopping couture gown created with over 152,000 SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS by Ralph and Russo, Archive pieces from Swarovski Runway Rocks, an internationally acclaimed collection of spectacular catwalk jewels, will also feature in the windows. These include a headpiece, Bird’s Nest Headdress, by Shaun Leane, Philip Treacy and Alexander McQueen, which featured in Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York earlier this year, and a crown, Goddess, by Farah Khan which was worn by Beyonce in the artwork for her latest album ‘4’.

The international Fashion Designers Marios Schwab and Erdem are responsible for the iconic Harrods green tote bag for Macmillan Cancer Support, which will be auctioned from a starting price of £500 until 24th of December. So all Fashion Victims go and bid for the most fashionable bags ever!
