PATCHWORK EFFECTS AND FISHING INSPIRATIONS FOR THE 2019 PRE-FALL COLLECTION BY MMISSONI

    06 March 2019

    By Franco Lorenzon @nonsololook

Even if we are in the middle of Spring, there are many brands that reveal their future collections well in advance. MMissoni is one of these, with a focus on the Pre_Fall 2019 season, on a mood characterized by numerous material patchworks that reveal a young, graphics and modern look.

Drawing inspiration from the technical suits of the Haenyo women divers from the island of Leju in South Korea, numerous references to diving equipment characterize the pieces enriched with neoprene details and maxi zippers.

These sporty elements give a distinctive character not only to the outerwear, including a yellow maxi hood in water-repellent material and knitwear as well as a patchwork jacket with nylon hood, but also pullovers and dresses worn over leggings.

The geometric patterns of the kimono fabrics used to add a more feminine and delicate touch to these uniforms, echo in the patterns of the maxi cardigans with their artisan feel, in the jacquard dresses with their easy-chic attitude, in the oversized tunics and in the super-feminine pleated skirts.

In line with the spirit of the collection, textures reminiscent of fishing nets are reproduced in a sophisticated version on sleeveless crochet dresses worn over close-fitting knitwear and wide trousers.

The collection is imbued with a more rigorous and masculine spirit with micro check tailored fabrics, mixed with mélange knit inserts for an unconventional look.

A sense of fluidity and spontaneous elegance defines the selection of evening pieces, including maxi knitted dresses with American necklines or thin straps, made of lurex in an intriguing palette of nocturnal colours.

This 2019 collection offers a more refined and contemporary allure, distinguished by the research and meticulousness of its garments. I bet many of you, after seeing the gallery, would already like to wear them.
