    Interview; RENZO ROSSO - FEAR IS FUN

    Renzo Rosso the italian` Jeans Guru`. He is the one who arised jeans to a luxury object.

    Steel blue sparkling eyes, locks framing his face and a friendly charisma distinguish the men who founded Diesel Jeans more than 30 years ago in Italy and has made the jeans into a cult object due to his very own idea of refinement and innovative cuts. We’re talking about Renzo Rosso who visited the Big Apple for the occasion of the fashion shows fall 2012 of his luxury brand Diesel Black Gold and the first Mono Brand store opening in Soho.

    A SELFMADE MAN AND A VISIONARY

    Values and traditions are the basis of Renzo Rosso´s work. Handiwork, handicraft experiment with manufacturing and refinement techniques and “going against the tide” are the buzzwords accompanying him every day and are also the message of his campaigns. He is one of the `old school` designers who bring a sewing machine in the backstage area to make last refinements before the show starts. And while he is riding the wave of success, he is also thinking of others! The father of six proudly tells about his charity project in Mali were he helps families in need and of course Renzo Rosso is also telling the inside story when it comes to his very first` jeans-transforming` memories at the tender age of fifteen.

    DIESEL BLACK GOLD FALL 2012 – INSPIRED BY STYLE ELEMENTS OF HORROR MOVIES

    All around us are carefully draped shirt-blouses on clothes rails. They are the key element of the collection. Short blazers, swinging black pleated skirts, blue-striped pants in the boxer short look worn over cotton pants cheekily peeking out, knitted sweaters decorated with faces, leather coats and pedal pushers accentuated with broad leather belts worn on the hip and the colors black, grey, red and white all remind us of old horror movies. Alfred Hitchcock would have rejoiced! Ascending fog and a specially chosen music emphasize the scary scenario on the cat walk. Absent was the Greek designer Sophia Kokosalaki, responsible for the Diesel Black Gold line as she is expecting her first baby soon.

    ROCK CHIC IN SOHO

    Even though the new home of the luxury brand already seemed overflowing with guests at the opening party that evening, the “DIESEL DNA” was very present in the 230 square meters of the first Diesel Black Gold Mono Brand store, which exclusively hosts the entire women’s and men’s collection. To emphasize the rocking Diesel spirit the renowned, New York based interior designer Ryan Korban was hired. Zebra attitude paired with clean lines and forms result in the perfect Diesel Black Gold shopping experience.
